Sunday morning at the legendary Soers in Aachen kicked off with pure speed and precision. In the prestigious Prijs van de Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein e.V., a 1.50m class judged directly on time, Swedish world number one Henrik von Eckermann came out on top. Aboard his lightning-fast KWPN mare Glamour Girl, he clocked an unbeatable time that left the competition biting their nails.
Course designer Frank Rothenberger had set a technical and fast-paced track. As one of the favorites for a speedy class, Glamour Girl (by VDL Zirocco Blue) did not disappoint. The 15-year-old KWPN mare galloped through the arena with massive strides and unprecedented efficiency.
Canadian rider Erynn Ballard came closest to the lead. Aboard the just 11-year-old gelding Fave d'Authuit (by Cornet Obolensky), she delivered a fantastic, attacking round, but with a time of 67.69 seconds, she narrowly had to concede defeat to the Swedish world champion.
There was home advantage for Germany's Christian Ahlmann, who guided the young, promising licensed stallion Sheeran WL (by Codex One) to a stellar third-place finish in 68.46 seconds.
