Only five combinations managed to qualify for the jump-off of today’s 1.60m CSI5* Grand Prix of The President's Cup UAE. British show jumper Joseph Stockdale was the only rider to complete the jump-off clear, riding the 12-year-old Ebanking (Etoulon, breeder: E. Vriend).
Stockdale and the 12-year-old son of Etoulon were slightly slower than Germany's David Will and the Paul Schockemöhle-bred Xixo Borgia (Big Star). Despite one jumping penalty, the pair ultimately secured second place ahead of compatriot Maximilian Lill and the 11-year-old Viverter PS (Vivant).
Finishing just off the podium was Ramzy Al Duhami with Cayadino (Cayado), followed by Luiz Felipe Cortizo Gonçalves De Azevedo Filho and the 12-year-old Zangersheide mare, Sierra du Piedroux Z (Hunter's Scendix).
Janika Sprunger and Aganix's Rose of Light step up
Earlier Switzerland's Janika Sprunger jumped to the win in the 1.50m class with winning round. In this class, counting for Longines Ranking points, Sprunger jumped to the win aboard the 9-year-old German-bred mare, Aganix's Rose of Light (Aganix du Seigneur, breeder: C. Stumpel). The pair was followed by Belgium's Abdel Said and the 16-year-old SF-mare, Arpege du Ru (Apache d'Adriers).
This combination earlier won the Grand Prix qualifier on Friday. Maximilian Lill completed the stage together with the 11-year-old, Casallco's George PS (Casallco).
