It was top-level sport at the 1.60m CHIO5* Grand Prix in Rotterdam. After an eight-rider jump-off, Karl Cook soared to victory.
Eight combinations qualified for the jump-off in the 1.60m CHIO5* Grand Prix. Last to go, Maikel van der Vleuten couldn’t dethrone Karl Cook and the 13-year-old Selle Français mare, Caracole de la Roque (by Zandor).
Cook and his mare jumped to victory in 37.17 seconds, edging out Nina Mallevaey with the 12-year-old SF mare, Dynastie de Beaufour (by Diamant de Semilly), who finished second. Donald Whitaker completed the Grand Prix podium aboard Millfield Colette (by Cornet Obolensky).
Just off the podium was Sienna Charles with Chawton (by Typhoon S), followed by Bas Moerings and the 12-year-old KWPN stallion, Ipsthar (by Denzel van 't Meulenhof). Only the top four combinations managed to produce a faultless jump-off round.
Moerings finished ahead of fellow Dutch rider Hessel Hoekstra on Comthago VDL (by Comme Il Faut). Final rider to go, Maikel van der Vleuten, ultimately placed eighth with the 11-year-old BWP stallion, O’Bailey van het Brouwershof N.O.P. (by Darco).
