Birkhof’s Arezzo Man FBW (Arezzo VDL x Last Man Standing), the DSP stallion who clinched the five-year-old title at last year’s Bundeschampionate, has joined the ranks of the Iron Dames — the elite female team founded by French entrepreneur Deborah Mayer. The compact grey stallion had been successfully campaigned by Sophie Hinners, a key member of the Iron Dames team.
Following his championship win, the stallion was taken over by Richard Vogel, who along with David Will and Hinners runs V&W Equestrian. Under Vogel, Arezzo Man continued to shine, earning top marks in the Bundeschampionate qualifiers — scoring 9.3 in Ladenburg and an impressive 9.8 in Viernheim.
Breeding future remains uncertain
“Arezzo Man has all the qualities needed for the big sport,” said Richard Vogel in an interview with Züchterforum. “Thanks to Deborah Mayer’s support, Sophie Hinners is now well-positioned to continue riding him long term. Whether he will remain available as a breeding stallion is not a priority at this time.”
Gestüt Birkhof, where the stallion was raised and trained, retains a contract through the end of 2025. Until then, Arezzo Man will remain at Birkhof and accessible to breeders.
