On Friday afternoon, the opening class of the CSI5* took place at the Parc des Expositions de Bordeaux. The 1.45m speed class was held as part of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup, with victory going to Frenchman Jérémy Le Roy, who immediately jumped to gold in his very first five-star Grand Prix appearance.
Le Roy relied on Falkira de Mormoulins (Cornet Obolensky), stopping the clock at 61.91 seconds with a clear round to claim the win. Fellow French rider Julien Anquetin followed in second place with Hirondelle Tame (Cicave du Talus*gfe), also faultless in 63.76 seconds.
The podium was completed by Brazil’s Yuri Mansur, who produced another clear round with Glinka de la Treille (Contendro I) in 65.25 seconds.
Just outside the podium finished Michael Jung with the Zangersheide mare Eclaire Z (Epleaser van ’t Heike), narrowly missing out on a top-three placing in 65.31 seconds.
The top five was rounded off by Stéphane Dufour with Diego de Blondel (Vigo Cece), who delivered another clear round in 65.90 seconds, underlining French dominance in this opening class.
