Legend was a true globetrotter of the sport, representing Spain at the highest level, including the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and the 2021 European Showjumping Championships.

Aznar shared the heartbreaking news on May 27, stating:

"Some days ago we had to say goodbye to Legend. Thank you for all the moments, my friend. Rest in peace."

A Stellar Career on the Global Stage

Legend began his international career as an eight-year-old under the saddle of Belgium’s Delphine Goemaere. Eduardo Alvarez Aznar took over the reins in the summer of 2019, and the pair made an immediate impact. By autumn, they were representing Spain at the Nations Cup Final in Barcelona and secured a third-place finish in an opening round at the Global Champions League Prague Playoffs.

As their partnership grew, they became regulars on the world's most prestigious circuits, contesting FEI World Cup qualifiers in Amsterdam, Bordeaux, and Verona, as well as Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) legs in Doha, Paris, and Monaco.

Championship Success and Recent Form

The duo consistently delivered for Spain on the championship stage, finishing 31st individually at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and taking 16th individually at the 2021 European Championships, where they helped the Spanish team secure a 7th-place finish.

Even into his final seasons, Legend remained at the peak of his powers. In the last two years, Aznar and the gelding secured top-10 finishes at five-star events in Royal Windsor, La Baule, Doha, and Cannes. Just last year, they proved their elite status by finishing third in the prestigious 1.60m LGCT Grand Prix of Shanghai (May 2025).

Their final competitive appearance together was at the LGCT Rabat leg in Marrakech, where they signed off with a spectacular 10th-place finish in the Longines Grand Prix.

'More than anyone could imagine'

The loss has been deeply felt by those closest to him. Asia Olsezweska, Eduardo’s dedicated groom, paid an emotional tribute to the horse she called her "soulmate":

"You always were and will be more than anyone could ever imagine. I’ll miss you until we meet again somewhere."
