Constant Van Paesschen: "The sun is one reason, and a significant professional progression is the second reason to spend the winter in the Middle East..."

This week, Constant Van Paesschen is one of the successful riders competing at the Al Shira'aa Horse Show in Abu Dhabi. "The decision to end and begin my year in the Middle East came at the request of our clients. I haven’t regretted that decision for a single moment," the Belgian rider says with a smile.

"This year, the choice to come to the Middle East was quite simple. My clients asked me to come here, and I follow their lead. My father (Stanny Van Paesschen, ed.) is also one of the regular trainers in Sharjah, so we have a connection to the Middle East. Together, this led us to return here after three years," Van Paesschen explains.

"The first day was incredible. I started with Diaz, winning the main class on the opening day. Diaz is truly a fantastic horse. She wins often and always gives her best... starting your week like this is always great for morale..."

Riding under the sun is more enjoyable...

"We are here with four horses. I will ride all the competitions during the winter season here. The goal is to build them up gradually without overdoing it. After the final CSI5* in Sharjah, we’ll return to Belgium and then head to Oliva!"

"It’s great to see how this series has evolved so beautifully. The organization is extremely professional, and you can see a very strong foundation for our sport!"
