After 25 years, the collaboration between Swedish showjumper Rolf-Göran Bengtsson and the Holsteiner Verband has come to an end. Bengtsson, a six-time Olympian and 2011 European Champion, expressed his regret that the partnership has concluded. He valued the time they spent working together and cherishes many fond memories, especially with stallions such as Casall, Clarimo, Quintero, and Zuccero HV. However, due to current circumstances, he saw no viable way to continue the collaboration.
Over the years, Bengtsson achieved great success with several stallions from the Holsteiner Verband. Casall, for example, won team bronze at the 2013 European Championships in Herning, placed fourth at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen, and was the overall winner of the Longines Global Champions Tour in 2016. Quintero and Clarimo also reached top-level success under Bengtsson.
In more recent years, Bengtsson was part of the collaboration with the 13-year-old stallion Zuccero HV. Together, they claimed team gold at the 2023 European Championships in Milan and competed as partners at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. However, at the end of April, Zuccero HV left Bengtsson’s stables after a sponsor acquired the sporting rights from the Holsteiner Verband, thus bringing the successful partnership to an end.
With the conclusion of the collaboration, the two remaining stallions Bengtsson was riding for the Holsteiner Verband — the 8-year-old Charaktervoll HV and the 9-year-old Keaton HV — have been returned to the Verband.
