Baroness van d’Abelendreef to retire after long sports career

The 15–year old BWP mare Baronez that came to see the world as Baroness d' Abelendreef ( Skippy II x Heartbreaker ) bred by Koen Cerpentier will end her showjumping carreer and go in  retirement. After an injury that she had sustained last summer , she returned recently during the Spruce Meadows Summer Series back in the ring. But now owners Ilan Ferder, Tal Milstein, Lövsta Stuteri and Alberto Michan Friday  have decided that it is better for the chestnut mare to call it a day on the international circuits. She can now enjoy her retirement in the Netherlands and will be used for breeding. For years USA’s Kirsten Coe was successfully competing with Baronez riding the her on top level with highlights like an eight place in the World Cup finale from ‘s Hertogenbosch in 2012. The pair also represented the states in the Nations Cup competition on several occasions. Offspring of the mare is alreadz competing in on international level including the 8-year old Iliano d' Abel Recherche ( v . Ogano Sitte ) jumping on 1m45 level with Wilm Vermeir and the 6 -year-old gelding Walter Lily who was Belgian champion at the bracket for young horses this year.
