Yesterday the five weeks summer competitions in Spruce Meadows kicked off with the "Friends of the Meadows". Several big names appeared at the start such as former Olympic Champion, Eric Lamaze, Beezie Madden, Reed Kessler, Ward McLain, Cameron Hanley, Ian Millar, Tiffany Foster, Rich Fellers and Francois Mathy Jr. It was this last one who claimed victory in the 1m60 course with his horse Polinska des Isles (s. Diamant de Semilly). Reed Kessler aboard her Belgian Warmbred Cylana (s. Skippy II) followed on a second place with only 0,1 seconds difference. The Mexican rider Enrique Gonzalez completed the stage with Criptonite (s. Cento).
The Columbian Daniel Bluman and Sancha LS La Silla (s. Chin Chin) ended his Jump-Off in 42:88 seconds, good for a fourth place. Tiffany Foster and Southwind VDL (s. Baloubet du Rouet) made it as the last clear Jump-Off to the fifth place. In total 9 pairs appeared in the Jump-Off.
