Two new 7YO talents for Team Philippaerts

Quana van Klapscheut's victory in the Cup of Belgium for seven-year-olds did not go unnoticed. The seven-year-old BWP mare also caught the eye of the Philippaerts family, who are now half-owners of the mare. In addition, the family from Belgium also invested in the number three of this championship, Qing of Diamonds VDB.

The mare is a daughter of Gregory Wathelet's late Iron Man vd Padenborre. Last month, the seven-year-old BWP mare placed first in the Cup of Belgium but that was not her first big win. The mare bred by Emile Van Rossem also won a heat in the Cycle and as a six-year-old she competed in the final of the World Championships in Lanaken.

Currently Steven Van Rossem, son of the breeder, is at the helm of the mare and will remain so until after the Belgian Championships held this week at the Azelhof. After that, the mare will move into the Philippaerts family stables.

In addition to this seven-year-old mare, the family also had their eye on Qing of Diamonds VDB. This seven-year-old BWP gelding comes from the stables of the Vandousselaere family and it was also daughter Paris who rode the gelding to bronze in the final of the Cup of Belgium for 7-year-olds. The son of Elvis ter Putte was born in their stables and trained by the young rider, who now passes on the reins to the Philippaerts family and will no longer compete at the Belgian Championships with Qing herself.
