Epaillard goes for two in Mâcon! "Cancun has an incredible heart!"

On Thursday, Julien Epaillard already topped the 1.50m CSI4* main class at the Jumping International Mâcon. On Saturday the French showjumping rider repeated his win with Cancun Torel Z (Cosinhus x Grannus).

Epaillard jumped to the win in 39.24 seconds, leaving compatriot, Lara Tryba aboard Die Hard of Roses Z (Diamant de Semilly) in the runner-up position. Jennifer Hochstadter followed in a third place with her trusted Tinka's hero Z (Tinka's Boy).

With the record time, but also one jumping fault, Turkey's Derin Demirsoy had to settle for a fourth spot. Together with O-Kannarok (Rock'n Roll Semilly), he advanced on Victor Bettendor and Simolo de la Roque Z (Spartacus).

"Cancun has an incredible heart," Epaillard said in a press release from Jumping International Mâcon Chaintré. "She is really a great mare who always does everything for her rider. She doesn't have the biggest stride, so the distances are generally more forward for me, which is advantageous in a jump-off. I thought the first round was very interesting for a 1.50m class the day before the Grand Prix, when we often have less experienced horses in the starting field. I am very happy with this weekend so far."
