Amanda Derbyshire jumps to glory in Tryon's Welcome Stake

A next week of show jumping sport at the Tryon Equestrian Center has kicked off with the 1.45m $35,000 Welcome Stake. A total of 15 combinations qualified for the jump-off, where 8 pairs crossed the finish faultless. In the saddle of the 11-year-old Cartani 4-daughter, Lady Maria BH, Amanda Derbyshire jumped to the $11,550 victory in 28,70 seconds. USA's Marilyn Little followed as runner-up. Little stopped the clock in 29,95 seconds aboard the Dutch bred Holstein-son of Clearway, Clear Water. The 10-year-old gelding was sold by the Dutch Sport Horse Sales in 2011. Mexico's Santiago Lambre placed third with the KWPN-mare, Doloris (by Harley VDL). Lambre and the 9-year-old KWPN-mare jumped into second at Tryon last month. Scott Keach and the Belgian bred Fedor (before: Fedor van het Cabernhol) finished fourth. Keach and the Kashmir van Schuttershof-son were followed by Marilyn Little and Corona 93.
