Last in the order to go, but first in the standings: Andrew Ramsay (USA) and Cocq A Doodle (Tolan R x Niagara) pulled off a sensational jump-off round in Friday's $45,000 FEI Open Classic at CSI3*-W Bromont. Course designer Luc Musette presented a challenge to the riders, and it was not until the ninth pair in the ring that a clear round came. In the end, thirteen pairs managed to produce clear rounds to move on to the jump-off. Four riders chose not to compete in the second round: Americans Sarah Scheiring, Heather Caristo-Williams, Alison Robitaille and Peter Lutz. Nicholas Dello Joio (USA) set the time to beat at 49.46 secondes in the jump-off with Cantino (Calido I x Cassini I) executing a clear round. However, he was quickly bested by Devin Ryan (USA) and Cooper (Unaniem x Baloubet Du Rouet). A few riders later Jennifer Serek (CAN) with Wicked (Eurocommerce Berlin x Diamant de Semilly) set the new time to beat at 42.57 seconds, and with only three to go she seemed closed to a home victory. Isabelle Lapierre (CAN) Cescha M (Diamant de Semilly x Calando IV) slotted in behind Serek, stopping the clock at 42.90 seconds and with only one to go it was looking good for the hosts. However, as the last duo in the ring Andrew Ramsay and Cocq A Doodle went all in and produced a clear round in an unbeatable time of 34.49 a little over three seconds better than Canadian rider Jennifer Serek.
