Bertram Allen and Molly Malone V (Kannan x Cavalier) were outstanding in the Grand Prix of Dinard - taking the win ahead of three home riders. It was a very difficult course with faults spread all over, but also the time allowed caused a lot of headache for the riders. As many as 20 of the 43 entered riders ended up with one time penalty or more. Only five riders made it through to the jump-off and the French crowds were pleased as three of them were French. Aymeric de Ponnat qualified in a bit of a different way than the rest though. When de Ponnat and Armitages Boy (Armitage x Feo) approached the penultimate fence - the Rolex triple combination - the planks in the middle of the a-element was taken by the strong wind causing the French rider to stop and wait for the fence to be rebuild. As he crossed the finish line de Ponnat was clear, but with one time penalty. The crowds showed their disapproval and in the end the judges also corrected de Ponnat's time qualifying him for the jump-off. Kent Farrington was first to go in the jump-off and he started a real race aboard Uceko (Celano x Koriander), but it was not Kent's day. Three poles fell to the ground around the shortened to place him fifth. Kevin Staut and Reveur de Hurtebise HDC (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Capricieux des Six Censes) pulled off a superb round at 46,95 seconds and put some real pressure on the rest of the riders. Jerome Hurel and Quartz Rouge (Ultimo van ter Moude x Oredo de Paulstra *HN) did their best and were clear, but could not match Staut's time finishing at 49,14 seconds. Then it was time for Bertram Allen who once again showed the field of older riders that his twenty years of age is no limit. Riding Molly Malone V Allen was able to beat Staut's time by 0,41 seconds after a brilliantly ridden jump-off. Aymeric de Ponnatand Armitages Boy were last to go, but could not threaten the top three as a pole fell to place them fourth.
