Ireland’s Cameron Hanley won the CSI2* Grand Prix on Wednesday afternoon with the Hannoverian mare Shuttle (Stakkato x La Zarras 2). It was Cameron’s first visit to Valkenswaard this year and he saved the best for last. Hanley is happy with the mare who he rides for two years now: “Shuttle is very careful and fast and from the start she kept her rhythm. She is a very sweet mare, everybody at home loves her. She has a good attitude and she is always positive, she makes things real easy for me.” Runner-up was the USA’s Laura Kraut and the SF stallion Berdenn de Kergane (Quaprice Boimargot Quincy x Flipper d’Elle), who was ridden by Scott Brash last year. Third place went to Holland’s Albert Zoer and the KWPN stallion Florian (Zirocco Blue VDL x Cardento). CSI1* Grand Prix Andrew Bourns produced the second Irish winning round. He had the fastest clear round in the CSI1* Grand Prix with Sea Topblue (ISH, v. Chacco-Blue). It was seven years ago that Andrew competed at Tops International Arena. “It all want really good and I saved time between fences one and two and towards fence number 4. I could keep up a high pace.” Sea Topblue was formerly ridden by Jenny Rankin and Andrew took over the reins only three weeks ago. Valkenswaard was their first outing together. “This horse is so smart and brave, I expect a bright future for him.” Runner-up was Florence Schwizer-Seydoux. The wife of Swiss top rider Pius Schwizer rode the SF mare Starlette de Maillet (Vesuvius van het Moeshof x Iago C). Laura Kraut and Galliano VM (KWPN, Ukato x Vincenzo), who won the 1* Grand Prix last week, had to settle for third place this time. Full results
