Forty-three distinguished competitors, including twice winner of GLOCK’s Grand Prix John Whitaker (GBR), Olympic winners, double world and double European champion Jeroen Dubbeldam (NED) and world number four Daniel Deusser (GER), contested victory in the CSI5* GLOCK’s Perfection Tour, with prize money totalling 25,000 euros. But for all participants here it wasn’t just about places; rather it was also about first qualification for the GLOCK’s CSI5* Grand Prix taking place on Sunday (30/08), with prize money amounting to 400,000 euros. After two demanding rounds over 1.50 m, ultimately it wasn’t the old masters but rather riders from the ambitious, younger generation who came out top. Twenty-two-year-old Olivier Philippaerts (BEL) performed brilliantly in the saddle of his ten-year-old KWPN stallion H&M Armstrong van de Kapel, his two clear rounds securing his victory with a time of 40.59 seconds. “When I arrived yesterday, I thought ‘Wow, it’s beautiful here!’”, said the twice Junior European Champion and youngest winner of the CSIO5* Grand Prix at Spruce Meadows (USA/2012), who took part in the  World Equestrian Games in Caen (FRA) last year with the Belgian team. “For me it’s been one of the best events in which I’ve had the privilege to participate and my horse seems to be in good form. I’m looking forward to the rest of the weekend.” said the son of the famous show jumping rider Ludo Philippaerts. The Netherlands ahead of Australia and Ireland. That’s how the podium looked following the second GLOCK’s CSI2* Tour, which was conducted as a jumping competition accumulator over 1.45 m. Thirty participating duos went to the start, whilst nine managed unblemished clear rounds to achieve the full score of 65 points. Particularly at the last obstacle, the both narrow and high joker upright, many lost their chance to prevail as a result of a knockdown. Ben Schroeder (NED), on the other hand, did everything right. The brother of GLOCK Rider Gerco Schroeder deftly guided eleven-year-old Complemento, son of Contender, with the correct measure of risk through the course and took first place in 51.39 seconds. "This is my first time here in my brother’s second sporting home. The conditions here are simply top class, for which I would like to thank the Gaston and Kathrin Glock family on everyone’s behalf. If things carry on this way, I can count myself lucky!" said the likeable Dutchman in the winner’s interview. Aged nine years, Blanez jumped through the test both fast and without penalties under Jamie Winning (AUS), achieving second place in 53.32 seconds. The second day of GLOCK’s International Show Jumping at the GLOCK HORSE PERFORMANCE CENTER opened with a scorching victory for Austria. Eighteen-year-old Alessandra Reich (OÖ) had already participated in four youngster European Championships and underlined her talent in the saddle of her 14-year-old KWPN gelding U Mijnheer in the GLOCK’s CSI2* Tour over 1.40 m. With a time advantage of over two seconds (0/68.59) she secured victory and thus one of the wonderful GLOCK’s winner’s trophies and winner’s blankets. "The whole event is incredible and it’s a dream to have the chance to ride here. I also have my second horse here for the start of the other CSI2* Tour, so let’s see what we can do there" said the ambitious rider. Also riding a clear round were Jack Dodd (IRL) and the just seven-year-old Izzy By Picobello, progeny of Cicero, taking second place in 70.72 seconds ahead of Salzburg’s Jürgen Krackow, who used a 'Bosal' bitless bridle to pilot Webster, progeny of Hors La Loi II, to an equally clear round of the GLOCK’s CSI2* Tour in 70.84 seconds. The winning horse in today’s CSIYH1* GLOCK’s Youngster Tour was bred in Belgium, is seven years old and goes by the catchy name of Ida van de Bisschop. Beneath her rider Douglas Lindeloew (SWE), this elegant mare showed enormous potential in the jumping in two phases over 1.40 m for seven and eight-year-old horses, galloping over the finishing line in the second phase in 37.34 seconds. "It seems all good things come in threes" said a laughing Douglas Lindeloew in the winner’s interview. "This is my third time at the GLOCK HORSE PERFORMANCE CENTER and now at last we’ve earned victory!"   Yesterday it was Pius Schwizer (SUI) who took the GLOCK’s Youngster Tour Opening with his eight-year-old Tina de l’Yserand, daughter of Allegreto, whilst today it was a penalty-free 38.87 seconds that brought him an ultimate second place. Third place was secured by reigning Olympic winner, world and European champion eventing rider Michael Jung (GER). In the saddle on the powerful jumper fischerDaily Impressed, he proved that he is also at home in the show jumping arena and delivered an immaculately clean round in precisely 39.00 seconds.   Neo-Austrian Max Kuehner (T) had saddled up Electric Touch, an eight-year-old mare from Zangersheide, descended from Untouchable Z x Ti’s Voltaire, and achieved fifth place in 40.29 seconds. ____________________ AMATEUR TOUR 17 - CSIAm-A GLOCK's AMATEUR TOUR - 1.30 m Second GLOCK’s Amateur Tour victory for Nina Barbour Facing the 20 participants in the GLOCK’s Amateur Tour today was a jumping accumulator over 1.30 m. Those aiming for the full score of 65 points and a chance to contest victory were obliged not only to overcome all the obstacles in the course without penalties but also to choose the more difficult joker variant at the last jump. Eight duos achieved these feats and, as on the opening day yesterday, the fastest time was delivered by a British woman. Nina Barbour (GBR) made the demandingly laid out course look easy and piloted Douglas Delight magnificently to the finish in 53.35 seconds. "I hope I can maintain my form for the final tomorrow. I don’t want to disappoint my horse, she’s simply a star!" commented the now twice winner of the GLOCK’s Amateur Tour. Also achieving the full points score was Carinthia’s Mario Tschaitschmann in second place.
