GCT Doha: Julien Epaillard beats Ben Maher in thrilling jump-off

The first Grand Prix of the Global Champions Tour this season kicked off in Doha today. This CSI5* 1m60 competition with a total of 5 combinations in the jump-off became a battle between Julien Epaillard and Ben Maher.

It was Julien Epaillard who as first starter in this jump-off claimed victory aboard Usual Suspect d'Auge (by Jarnac) with a beautiful time of 40.11 seconds. Ben Maher followed closely keeping the audiance at the edge of their seats with a near perfect round aboard Explosion w (by Chacco Blue). They took second place in 40.54 seconds. For Belgium it was then Nicola Philippaerts who took third place with his H&M Chilli Willi (by Casall) in 43.45 seconds. Completing the top five we found in fourth place Frank Schuttert for the Netherlands with Chianti's Champion (by Champion du Lys), followed by a fifth place for Italy's Alberto Zorzi and Contanga (by Catoki). Both riders finished with 4 penalties.   Results
