Daniel Deusser - Cornet d'Amour (1)A total of 18 starters and about 1.000.000 Euro's to earn, that was in short the CSIO5* Aachen Grand Prix. Maikel Van der Vleuten and his VDL Groep Verdi (s. Quidam de Revel) were the first to start in the second round. The pair collected a total of 5 points in the first round and added 4 penalty's with it after finishing the second round. The German show jumper, Ludger Beerbaum and Chiara 222 (s. Contender) was the first to finish faultless in the second round, ending with a total of 4 points. However this did not ensure the victory as there were also some clear first round-riders yet to start their second round. Daniel Deusser among them. Aboard Cornet d'Amour (s. Cornet Obolensky) the new German National Champion finished with one time penalty. Marc Houtzager (Sterrehof's Tamino, s. Numero Uno), Christian Ahlmann (Codex One, s. Contendro I), Harrie Smolders (Exquis Walnut De Muze, s. Nabab De Reve), Ben Maher (Cella, s. Cento) and Beezie Madden (Cortes 'C, s. Randel Z) all jumped one fence down. However Janika Sprunger (Palloubet d'Halong 2), Nick Skelton (Big Star) and Patrice Delaveau (s. Express HDC) had no problem leaving the wood untouched, securing a jump-off. The 26-year-old Swiss Janika Sprunger started with a quick round, however on the last fence of the double combination she and Palloubet d'Halong 2 (s. Baloubet du Rouet) jumped the pool down. Nick Skelton and his Quick Start-son, Big Star was slower in time but without faults while also Patrice Delaveau jumped towards 4points. © equnews.com - photo: equpics.be
