Santiago Lambre on top in Villamoura

At the Villamoura Equestrian center in Portugal the day started with the CSI2* 1.40m class, inwhich Great-Britain's Ben Maher continued his form aboard the 10-year-old Sarena (Calvaro x Damoiseau d'Or). The pair concluded the 1.40m track in 58.31 seconds, speeding to victory with an advantage of over one second time on Emily Moffitt. USA's female rider, Moffitt tacked up her 9-year-old Vermont-son Chaplin W. The pair concluded in 59.66 seconds. Ugo Berrittella followed as third aboard the Calvados Z-son Mjt Nevados S.  Mexico completed the top five thanks to Jose Alfredo Hernandez Ortega with Grupo Prom Abanderado (by Andiamo) and Santiago Lambre with his Belgian Warmblood Ibabco (by Nababde Reve). Only 19 combinations took the start from which 8 finished without touching the wood. The day concluded with the international 1.45m class. After an exciting top level sport it was Santiago Lambre that set the record time. Aboard the 9-year-old Bond Lover (by Balou du Rouet), Lambre finished in 30.08 seconds. Almost one second slower Reed Kessler did the job faultless aboard Cos I Can (by Olympic Lux). The pair was followed by Belgium's Gregory Wathelet and Iron Man van de Padenborre (by Darco). The top five was completed by an ex aequo between Darragh Kenny (Fixdesign Funke van 't Heike) and Beat Mändli (Simba). Kenny recently won his first 5* Grand Prix in Barcelona, and is now all set on the Grand Prix in Villamoura. A little bit later it was Portugal's Nuno Tiago Gomes and Pantaro (by Prado) who topped the international 1.35m class. Luca Maria Moneta (Tadi) and Katherina Dinan (Ulpi N de Brekka) completed the stage.
