Bonheiden kicked off its second week of the CSI2* competition and focussed today, on day 2, on young horses between five and seven years of age. In the 5-years-old class the victory was secured by US-American Catherine Passmore and her gelding Gladstone (by Chalthago Z). The combination finished the 2nd phase of the course without penalties in 38:91 seconds. British Laura Mantel riding NPS Erleena finished second in 39:33 seconds ahead of Jolien Maenhaut, who came in third. Together with Lipton Van Heiste (by Zirocco Blue VDL Z) the Belgian show jumper came home in 40:91 seconds. The class for 6-year-old horses was dominated by 'Jumping Bonheiden' organizer Mike Van Belle. With Edidoune by Wisbecq (by Atlantys de la demi lune) he stayed ahead of his competitors and secured the win in 31:33 seconds. Thierry Goffinet and Kannabis vd Buxctale (by Contact van de Heffinck) finished with a time of 31:61 seconds on 2nd place. Earlier this month the pair claimed a bronze medal at the World Championship for Young Horses in Lanaken. Third place, again went to Van Belle, this time on board Casino Royal vd Waterschoot Z (by Carpe Diem VHW Z) who stayed off the wood and came home within 34:04 seconds. In the class for 7-year-olds Pascale Lombard could claim the win on board her mare Venus des Bois (by Jarnac). With a time of 34:25 seconds she was just a second ahead of Ann Carton-Grootjans and Jojoe Ter Doorn (by Toulon). Finishing in 35:30 seconds Carton-Grootjans was ranked second, while Dominique Joassin completed the all-female podium by keeping her Cado de Greenbay (v. Cassini I) off the wood. A clear round in the second phase within 35:36 seconds secured her the third place.
