The 1.60m CSI5* Grand Prix of Bordeaux delivered top-level sport. With only four pairs in the jump-off, the competition for victory was fierce. In front of his home crowd, Cedric Hurel claimed the win.
Four combinations qualified for the jump-off of the 1.60m CSI5* Grand Prix of Bordeaux. First to go was French showjumper Cedric Hurel, riding the 15-year-old Zangersheide gelding, Fantasio Floreval Z (Florian de la Vie, breeder: Evelyne Pater). The pair put pressure on the competition with a clear round in 41.76 seconds, which ultimately secured them the Grand Prix victory.
"I was early in the order. I stuck to my plan. I know my horse inside out and already felt yesterday that he was ready," Hurel said after his win. "I was lucky that we could put enough pressure on the competition. With only four in the jump-off, I was aiming for a podium spot. Since I was the first to go, I had to give it my all—and that turned out to be enough!"
Max Kühner followed, riding the 12-year-old EIC Cooley Jump The Q (Pacino). The pair came close to Hurel’s time but could not improve it. Pieter Devos and Jarina J (Cicero Z van Paemel) were the third combination in the jump-off. A single jumping fault left them in third place. This pair recently claimed victory in the CSI5* Grand Prix of Amsterdam.
With only Julien Epaillard left to go, the competition was still open. However, the Frenchman finished with two jumping faults, placing him fourth with Easy Up de Grandry (Jarnac). The top five was completed by Yuri Mansur, who rode the 12-year-old Chacco-Blue daughter, Miss Blue-Saint Blue Farm.
