The win went to Sweden’s Petronella Andersson with the BWP mare Odina van Klapscheut (Zazu), bred by Stoeterij Mivaro. After a faultless first round in 68.55 seconds, the pair delivered another clear round in the jump-off and stopped the clock in a blistering 36.50 seconds, which ultimately secured the title.

“It felt fantastic, of course. I knew I was going late in the order and that there were still a few fast riders after me, so you never really know. But I know my horse is naturally very quick, and I rode a strong jump-off. Maybe I could have left out one stride to the final fence, but otherwise I was really on it,” she beamed afterwards. “She felt super today. Yesterday she only jumped a smaller class, so she was very fresh. I think it was good to let her jump a bit yesterday to get into the rhythm, and I was also able to work her some during the week here. This is a great way to finish for her. And it’s always nice here: the last time I was in Mechelen, I won the Grand Prix as well, so it seems like a show I need to keep coming back to,” Andersson added.

Robert Murphy took second place with Hulde G (Vigo d’Arsouilles). He was also double clear, posting 67.46 seconds in the first round and 36.97 seconds in the jump-off, finishing less than half a second behind the winner.

Daniel Deusser completed the podium with the BWP mare Pepita van ’t Meulenhof BR (El Torreo de Muze). He qualified with a faultless round in 68.99 seconds and confirmed that form with a clear jump-off in 37.00 seconds.

Just outside the top three, Gilles Thomas finished fourth with Chuck Marienshof Z (Colestus). They produced a clear first round in 66.73 seconds but picked up four faults in the jump-off, where they crossed the line in 37.35 seconds.

Thibeau Spits rounded out the top five with King van Essene (King van Essene). He also jumped clear in round one in 67.82 seconds, but incurred four faults in the jump-off and recorded a time of 37.90 seconds.
