Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup: Challenge Cup will take place after all

The fate of the Longines Challenge Cup in Barcelona hang by a thread for a very long time, but this afternoon the FEI finally decided that the competition will take place after all.

The Longines Challenge Cup was scheduled for Friday evening, but because of the bad weather, the FEI was forced to cancel the competition since the arena looked more like a swimming pool than like an equestrian areana. At first, the FEI decided that the Challenge Cup wouldn’t take place anymore meaning that Spain would clim up to first devision next year instead of Austria.

The reactions to this decision were very mixed so later today the organization of the CSIO of Barcelona, the FEI and the chef d’équipes decided that the Challenge Cup had to be ridden in order to keep the Nations Cup a fair competition. The organizing committee, the FEI and the chef d’équipes decided that the Challenge Cup will take place on Sunday, exact hours haven’t been communicated yet.
