Hughes wins spectacular 3-star Grand Prix of Bonheiden

In the Belgian Bonheiden a busy international weekend has just ended with the CSI3* Grand Prix. 58 combinations entered the show ring for this class. The first round seemed the be quite difficult since only two combinations managed to jump a clear first round. A jump-off between the Belgian rider Jeroen Appelen en the American Michael Hughes therefore had to decide about this winner... It became a very exciting end and Appelen did everything in his power to keep the victory in Belgium. With Grappeloup Van Het Reenhof under the saddle, we went fast as lightening and his time of 35,25 seconds was by far the fastest time. Unfortunately he got one penalty for jumping, meaning Appelen had to take peace with the second place. Michael Hughes and his Zerlin M did jump a clear jump-off in 41,24 seconds, resulting in the victory. The young Belgian lady rider Chloe Vranken ended on third place with Elton Jones. This combination did leave the wood untouched in the first round but got one penalty for time. The same thing happened with Arthur Da Silva and Inonstop van t Voorhof. They ended on fourth place. The Belgian rider José Thiry and Cyrano D'Orbri were the fastest combination with four faults. They ended on fifth place. Click here for the results
